Stefano has earned two Bachelor degrees, one in Agronomy and the other in Landscape architecture, before completing his studies with an MA in Landscape architecture at the University of Greenwich, London. Inspired by a passion for plants, he went on to take a horticultural internship at Kew, and in 2010 he joined Arne Maynard’s studio and worked on a range of high-spec private gardens in Britain, the USA and the Middle East.
Since establishing SMLA in 2012, Stefano and his team have worked on a rich mix of projects, often collaborating closely with architects and engineers. Stefano’s London gardens, largely in Chelsea, are designed to be crisp, contemporary and infinitely liveable extensions from the house. Clients with rural properties have admired Stefano’s imaginative planting and his sensitivity to the surrounding landscape. He also undertakes historical restoration and reconstruction of landscapes surrounding listed buildings.
